Baked Pumpkin Chews

This Autumnal recipe is purr-fect for those cats with classic taste, who love a baked delight to chew on after a long day. They also store fabulously, so can be popped in an airtight container and enjoyed for up to a month, or frozen for up to 6 months. Combining the tastiness of our Chicken Mousse meal and the superfood properties of pumpkin, these easy and yummy treats will have your kitty feeling wicked.

Ingredients

1 Tilly & Ted Chicken Mousse Can

2 tsp of coconut oil

1 egg

100ml of water, or as needed

95g of rice, cooked

Oven-safe string

Removed pepper stems, or cucumber cut into pumpkin stem shapes (optional)

Instructions

1) Set your oven to 160C fan, and line a baking sheet with baking paper.

2) Prick the pumpkin all over, and put in the microwave on high for 5 minutes to soften it. After it has cooked, scoop out all the flesh into a bowl.

3) Blend the Chicken Mousse, egg, oil, and pumpkin until smooth, using a food processer or blending stick. Add in the water slowly, until consistency is smooth.

4) Mix in the cooked rice until fully combined.

5) Sprinkle your countertop or workspace with flour before tipping out your mixture and kneading into a dough. Add extra water if your mixture won't hold a shape.

6) Roll the dough into bite-sized balls for your cat, and wrap the string around the outside of each ball to look like the segments of a pumpkin.

7) Pop your pumpkins onto the baking tray, and bake for 20-25 minutes or until crispy. Unwrap the string, to reveal your perfect pumpkin shaped chews, and optionally decorate with your pepper stems or cucumber shapes to make vines.

Frozen Trick or Treats

If your kitty needs to cool off, try our frozen trick or treats recipe for a refreshing Halloween snack. This simple recipe provides a stimulating and spooky looking snack to occupy your cat, and can be stored in the freezer all Autumn long. These also make use of our Tuna with Salmon Mousse meal to give your cat all the tasty nutrients they need, as well as being grain and gluten free!

Ingredients

1 Tilly & Ted Tuna with Salmon Mousse can

1 chopped and boiled sweet potato

1/2 a chopped and boiled red cabbage

200g of seaweed or spinach

230ml of chicken or fish stock, or as needed

Halloween themed silicone moulds

Instructions

1) Pop the Tuna with Salmon Mousse and sweet potato into a food processer and blend until smooth. Add stock if the mixture seems too thick, then set aside.

2) Pour/smooth this mixture into Halloween themed moulds until each shape is 1/3 full. You can spoon your mixture into a piping bag, or freezer bag with the corner cut off, to help this process go smoother. Pop in the freezer for 1 hour, or until frozen.

3) Clean your food processer, and blend the red cabbage. Slowly add your stock until you have a smooth consistency.

4) Grab your moulds out of the freezer and repeat step 2 with the cabbage mixture, pouring it on top of your Tuna and potato mixture until the shapes are 2/3 full. Pop back in the freezer for 1 hour or until frozen.

5) Clean your food processer one last time, and blend your spinach or seaweed. Once again, pour in stock until a smooth consistency is reached.

6) Finally, take out your moulds again and finish off each shape with your seaweed/spinach mixture. Pop back in the freezer for around 1 hour, or until fully frozen.

6) Pop your bats onto the baking tray, and bake for 25 minutes, or until golden and crispy, before turning your oven off and leaving them inside for an additional 30 minutes.
