Our top 10 meow-zing Superfoods to give your kitty the hero treatment
Clean your whiskers, and sharpen your claws, there’s a new Superhero in town…
We’ve all heard the word Superfood thrown around, but what does it actually mean? Although it’s not quite burgers in capes (although that would be cool), Superfoods are pretty super in supporting your pet’s health and nutrition. They’re so packed full of vitamins, minerals, and more, that they keep tummies purring and fur shining.
At Tilly & Ted, we pack as many Superfoods as we can into our cat food, as we believe your pet deserves a seat at the table to eat as good as you do: they’re your babies, so should be treated as such. Check out our list of our top 10 Superfoods for your cat below, and which of our meals are overflowing with them.
1. Pomegranate
Pomegranate is a brightly coloured little gem that is positively brimming with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. They have anti-inflammatory properties to keep your kitty fighting fit against the dreaded hoover monster.
Our favourite recipe of ours containing this powerful Superfood has to be our Traybake with Salmon. This nutritious and flavourful meal includes a healthy amount of pomegranate powder to add zing and provide those awesome antioxidants.
2. Carrots
There’s a reason we were all told carrots can help you see in the dark, they practically can! Carrots promote excellent eye health, alongside boosting immunity, and giving your cat fur so shiny you’d think they’d been using P’Awreal.
For every purr-fect pal that loves carrots, we’ve gotta give it to our Chicken with Carrot Pâté. This has lots of carroty and grain free goodness, alongside 38% mouth-watering chicken.
3. Linseed
Our not so seedy friend, Linseed, is a fantastic Superfood to keep your pussycat purring. It’s rich in protein, Omega 3, fibre, fatty acids, and more, and can even help reduce blood pressure. Pretty paw-some huh?
Our absolute fave recipe here is our Chicken Casserole, designed for your fur baby to keep healthy and happy so they can focus on the important stuff, like scratching the sofa. This contains 50% of protein rich chicken as well the super-est seedy food around.
4. Parsley
Up next, we have parsley, the mean green Superfood machine. This curly little chap is positively exploding with nutrients, antioxidants and essential vitamins, supporting your cat’s immune system, joints, kidneys, and urinary tract.
Don’t worry parsley lovers, we have a whole parsley selection so you can keep green every day of the week. From chicken, to whitefish, haddock, we’re bound to have a perfect parsley meal for your kitty.
5. Squash
Gourd-ness gracious, we’ve got squash up next. Gourd’s such as squash and pumpkin are renowned whisker-licking Superfoods due to their rich sources of nutrition and fibre to keep your kittycat regular and healthy.
We’ve got a squash-tastic recipe with our Turkey Pâté with Chicken and Squash, bound to have your feline feeling j’adore. This is one meal to keep a furry tummy happy and healthy.
6. Fish
We all know that fish can be rich in Omega 3, fatty acids, and antioxidants, and there’s a reason it’s made our list. They’re also a fab source of calcium, so your moggy with the most can model healthy joints and bones.
Our king of fabulous fishy meals is our Salmon Mousse, which contains multiple different fishes alongside Salmon, and those key oils and fatty acids. Each velvety spoonful is a symphony of flavours, carefully balanced to ensure irresistible appeal.
7. Cranberries
Cranberries are tiny powerhouses of vitamins, so your feline friend can keep the spring in their step. Rich in anti-inflammatories, cranberries can reduce risk of arthritis and keep your cat’s urinary tract healthy, so they can pee – sorry be – their most meow-zing selves.
We’re guaranteed to have a Cranberry meal that your kittycat craves, with our Cranberry Selection. We’ve got chicken, turkey, salmon, and more to tantalise taste buds whilst keeping healthy.
8. Seaweed
Bringing the flavour of the sea, seaweed is not only a yummy treat for your furry friend, but is also low in fat, filled with an ocean of amino acids, and aids in digestion and dental health. A bit of natural mermaid food can keep breath fresh and tummies happy.
Surf’s up with our Surf 'n' Turf selection, including healthy amounts of seaweed too. This recipe brings land and sea together in a refreshing blend of flavours, and nutrition out the wazoo.
9. Chicory Root
Chicory root is one of our very favourite Superfoods, and as such, we’ve included it in lots of our different pet meals and recipes. Chicory root is a wonderful source of fibre, so keeps tummies ticking along healthily, and contains many antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and more.
Our top pick for this ravishing root is our Chicken Mousse recipe. Full of protein rich chicken, the chicory root powder supports digestive wellness all round, as well as being a savoury symphony that will have your feline meowing for seconds.
10. Rosemary
Don’t let it wither away in your veg tray: rosemary is definitely a superer food than most. Potent with antioxidants and immune boosting properties, this superb herb is heroic at looking after your cat’s digestive track.
If our Parsley and Cranberry Selections weren’t quite to your refined feline’s palate, perhaps our Rosemary Selection could tickle their fancy. With duck, turkey, chicken, and more, we’ve got the nutritious and delicious meal to elevate your kitty’s dining experience.
