How your pet can have the purr-fect holiday whilst you enjoy yours
Planning your dream getaway, and haven’t found the dream pet sitter yet? It can be so hard to enjoy time away and relax when you’re worrying about your furry baby back at home. At Tilly and Ted, we understand the holiday blues of being away from your best friend, so we’ve compiled a list of our favourites resources to use when finding a top pet-sitter for when your companion needs a companion. Let us know your favourites as well, so we can all find the best choice for our furry and purry friends.
1. Cat In a Flat
Cat in a Flat is an easy-to-use website where cat sitters and cat owners alike can connect. With a huge range of profiles to look through, you’re bound to find exactly who you and your feline are looking for. You can filter by location, price, reviews, specialities, and more, and can work out all the nitty gritty details to ensure you find someone who your kitty adores. Pretty paw-some huh?
2. Borrow My Doggy
Just like Cat in a Flat, Borrow My Doggy connects both dog owners and dog sitters, so that your barky bestie can find the friend they need. From daily dog walks to live-in care, you can specify exactly what you are looking for and choose from a massive range of verified sitters. Borrow My Doggy is fab for those who can’t have a waggy pal of their own also, so you know that whoever you choose is going to have the perfect time playing with your pup.
3. Local Facebook Groups
If you’d like to find someone local to your area and support people in your community, local Facebook groups can sometimes be the way to go. Every area is bound to have a few groups of fellow animal lovers both looking for and offering pet-sitting services. Of course it is harder to verify people and reviews through Facebook as it is through a third-party site, but you can often connect with others more casually, and find more local people this way (and perhaps at a better rate). Even if you don’t find your paw-fect pet-sitter, it’s always wonderful to connect with floofs and their humans in your local pet community.
4. Trusted House Sitters
Sometimes you simply need someone to fill up the food bowl, other times you may want someone to look after your baby 24/7 and take care of your home as well. With Trusted House Sitters, you can find hundreds of experienced and verified people to take care of both your house and your pet at the same time. Perhaps you’re going on a long holiday (lucky you) and you’d love your animal to get cuddles whenever they need. Having a house sitter could be right for your pet and you - not to mention keeping your fickle house plants thriving!
5. Local Catteries and Kennels
Ok, so maybe you want your pet pal to have that round the clock care, but aren’t quite comfortable with someone staying in your home… don’t worry, there’s still an option for you. Kennels and Catteries are a common choice for people when taking trips away, and allow your pet to have time off as well. There are many options out there wherever. There are many options out there wherever you may be based, perhaps even ask around your local pet community for good recommendations– there’s nothing more trustworthy than a fellow pet owner's first-hand review. One of our favourites is West Burton Kennels, who have a whole doggo loving team ready to give your pet a getaway of their very own. If you’re local to Dorset, they may be the pet stay-cation for you.
Now that you’ve got your pet-sitter sorted, both you and your pet can relax in style. Don’t forget to top up your cupboards with all of their favourite food before you go – treats and eats are always the best part of any holiday, so don’t let your favourite floof miss out.
